Weyerhaeuser Begins Its Move To Pioneer Square

Placeholder

Weyerhaeuser has started its long-planned HQ move to Seattle's Pioneer Square from suburban Federal Way, where the company has been since the Nixon administration. The first group of employees made the move this week, with more planned next week. Not quite all its employees will make the move, since Weyerhaeuser will maintain a presence in Federal Way.

The company's new HQ is in the seven-story 200 Occidental Ave S, three blocks from the transit hub at the King Street and Union stations, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports. The move includes Plum Creek employees who had already begun working in Federal Way after the acquisition was completed earlier this year. The company decided to move to the city two years ago, the better to attract Millennial talent, and because the old HQ is too large. [PSBJ]
