SolTerra Starts Work on Ultra-Green Apartments in Newcastle

Placeholder

SolTerra has broken ground on Atlas in Newcastle, a 98-unit apartment project at 12901 Newcastle Way. According to the company, it's the first large apartment project to go up in the suburb in 15 years, and the first super-green project of its kind on the Eastside. The building, designed to LEED Platinum standards, will have triple-pane windows, high-efficiency heating and cooling units, a green roof to provide insulation and a "living wall" of plants to help cool the building; it will consume 30% less energy than a typical new building, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports. Atlas will also include 2k SF of retail and underground parking. [PSBJ]
