Union Street Apartments will include two commercial spaces and 60 residential units.

SeaLevel Properties recently started construction on the seven-story Union Street Apartments on Capitol Hill. The 40,800 SF mixed-use building is on Capitol Hill at 953 East Union St. near the light rail station. The 60 units will be a combination of one-bedroom and small efficiency dwelling units. The site will also include 4,400 SF of commercial space.

The building will feature a classic early 1900s design with a brick exterior, lobby and rooftop views of the Cascades and Space Needle.

The two commercial spaces feature 13-foot ceilings and expansive windows that optimize natural light. The corner retail unit is 1,993 SF and has an outdoor dining area that is visible from Union and 10th avenues and Broadway Court. The second space is 2,437 SF. The two spaces can be combined.

“This is a great site for transit-focused residential in the heart of the neighborhood,” SeaLevel Properties Director John Shaw said in a statement. “We look forward to showcasing our commitment to enhancing the community through superior quality, attention to detail and thoughtful development.”

STS Construction Services is the general contractor, and the architect is Grouparchitect. West Coast Commercial Realty brokers Keenan Van Gaver and Tiffani Connell are handling the leasing.

Construction is set to be complete in summer 2020.

SeaLevel has several other projects underway, including the two-building, 266-unit Everett Waterfront Apartments in the Port of Everett’s 65-acre Waterfront Place Development; the 14-unit UW 19th Townhomes, five-unit UW 18th Townhomes and the 64-unit U20 Apartments in the University District; the 110-unit Vale Apartments in Issaquah; and 92 units at SAMM Apartments in Sammamish.
