The Centenarian of the Skyline

Seattle

Once practically written off for dead as office space, the Smith Tower celebrated its 100th anniversary recently, mostly occupied and largely restored. (You can't keep a real star down, like John Travolta.) Tenants are interested again because the century-old building has features that are hard to find, even in other brick-and-beam buildings, CBRE first VP Cavan O’Keefe tells us: modern HVAC and operable windows, parking, and new retail. Snapped: crowds lining up to visit the observation deck during the anniversary celebration.
