Transbay Transit Center Retail Plans Move Forward Later Than Expected

Placeholder

Retail plans for the Transbay Transit Center are starting to move forward.

Phase 1 of the $4.5B project is underway, and the Transbay Joint Powers Authority will start looking next month for a private operator to manage its retail space. The search comes a year later than expected and means the retail operator may not have time to fully lease the 100k SF of retail and restaurant space before the center opens in 2017, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The project is expected to eventually have 160k SF of retail space, which is one of the largest blocks of retail expected in San Francisco for years to come. [SVBJ]
