Vote Rescheduled for Controversial $6B Concord Naval Base Project

The final vote to select the master developer to redevelop the former 5,000-acre Concord naval base has been rescheduled for Oct. 15.

The vote was unexpectedly canceled last week after Catellus Development alleged that Lennar Urban had improperly lobbied city officials to gain support for the project. Catellus and Lennar are the two finalists for the project, which has an estimated budget of $6B. The city attorney for Concord is investigating the claims and will report findings prior to the vote.

The project will be one of the largest in the Bay Area. The former naval base can support up to 12,000 housing units and more than 6M SF of commercial space. [SFBT]
