Why South Bay's So Darn Hot

Turner Construction GM Dan Wheeler tells us his firm's already blown past their $150M annual plan for interiors and special projects. That's one reason we're excited to host Bisnow's first Future of South Bay Summit tomorrow morning, Oct. 7, at the Hilton San Jose, starting at 7:30 AM.

Thank high tech, says Dan, who splits his week between S.F. and San Jose (above, at his new city office at 75 Hawthorne). He's starting to see a lot more pharma work land on the peninsula leading into San Jose. Gilead is growing leaps and bounds, and Turner's got a lot going on in that sector. Turner projects range from $1M to $100M (a recent fun one was renovating frat houses at Stanford). One near and dear to his heart is the $10M revamp of San Jose City Hall, which Turner originally built. Now Turner's converting it into the new 35k SF San Jose Patent and Trademark office. Come hear all-star panelists like Dan discuss new market trends, tenant demands, what new projects are in the pipeline and how the needs of tenants are evolving at Bisnow's first Future of South Bay Summit tomorrow morning, Oct. 7 at the Hilton San Jose, starting at 7 AM.
