San Francisco's inventory of homes for sale is 31% higher than a year ago as supply exceeds demand even in the city's tight housing market.

The main factor in that increase is condos, with 288 existing condos on the market last week, up 61% from a year ago. The 181 single-family homes on the market were up just 3%, according to SocketSite.

The numbers don't take into consideration new construction and housing in the pipeline, which is at a record 62,000 units (including 8,700 units set to deliver in the next year or two). [SS]
