San Francisco Rated Happiest City For Homeowners

Placeholder

San Francisco homeowners rank as the happiest in the nation, according to a new report.

HomeAdvisor asked about 18,000 homeowners in major metro markets across the country to gauge their happiness. S.F.’s owners came out on top, saying positive things about the geography, community and quality of the building, reports the San Francisco Business Times.

San Francisco’s homeowners also felt safe, trusted their neighbors, and were near shopping and other essential services that drive happiness.

Traffic and long commutes were the biggest sticking points for homeowners.

While homeowners were happy, the high cost of rents is negatively impacting the region’s renters. HomeAdvisor chief economist Brad Hunter says the upward spiral in housing costs was welcomed by property owners, but renters and others are dissatisfied.

A recent poll conducted by the Bay Area Council discovered that one-third of the region’s residents plan to leave soon. [SFBT]
