A new 330-unit residential tower could rise 32 stories in Central SoMa, according to a preliminary application filed with the city by John Hancock Life Insurance Co and Trammell Crow Residential.

John Hancock has a five-story office building at 95 Hawthorne St where the new tower would rise, if approved by the city and if the Central SoMa plan moves forward to raise height limits. Tishman Speyer, Boston Properties, Kilroy Realty and others also are planning projects in the area, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

Though there was hope the Central SoMa plan would be approved this year, it likely won't go before the Board of Supervisors until next year. The proposed high-rise would have 8k SF of ground-floor retail, and vehicle and bicycle parking. [SFBT]
