320-Foot Tower Proposed In Hayes Valley

Placeholder

The French American International School is planning to build up, way up, in Hayes Valley. The school submitted plans for a 320-foot tower at 98 Franklin St across the street from its campus at 150 Oak St.

The 409k SF project includes a new 70k SF campus, and 280k SF of residential and 5,900 SF of retail/commercial space, reports SocketSite. A 31-story tower will offer a mix of 301 studio, one- and two-bedroom market-rate units and an underground garage with 150 spaces. The proposed project will include 204 bike spaces.

The project could hit some snags since the corner parking lot where the site is proposed is zoned for buildings of up to 85 feet. The school submitted its application to be considered under the city’s Market Street HUB Project, which allows for taller towers. [SS]
