Overstock And Oakland Coliseum Part Ways

The home of the Oakland A's won’t be the O.co Coliseum anymore. Online retailer Overstock.com opted out of the final year of its six-year agreement for naming rights to the stadium that houses both the A's and the Oakland Raiders. The rights would have cost $1.3M for the 2016-17 season and would have been shared 50/25/25 between the Raiders, Oakland and Alameda County, according to NBC Sports.

Overstock’s decision wasn’t being contested, Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority executive director Scott McKibben told the San Francisco Chronicle. “They’ve always been able to terminate the contract if they wanted,” he said. These decisions are business as usual when companies adjust their marketing spend, he said.

Overstock.com will continue its sponsorship agreement for the baseball team.

The fate of the Raiders has been subject to a lot of speculation.  The team will remain in Oakland until 2017. [SFC /NBC
