The color must’ve drained from the faces of the folks in Oakland, when Clorox announced plans to relocate 500 employees to its new Pleasanton campus and to lease up to seven floors totaling 136k SF at its HQ at 1221 Broadway in Oakland City Center, beginning next year. The 24-story office tower was designed by Cesar Pelli (back when the renowned architect was with Gruen Associates). Clorox has been based in Oakland since its founding in 1913, and the company will retain its home offices there. CresaPartners is helping Clorox market the space, calling it a great alternative within commuting distance from other Bay Area environs with significantly lower business taxes than The City.
