Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, a global commercial real estate firm, is moving its San Diego regional office to One La Jolla Center, the new 15-story office tower in University Towne Centre developed and managed by Irvine Co.

NGKF is expanding to this new tower to better accommodate its rapid growth over the last year, create a collaborative work environment for its team and assist in recruiting talent. The firm has more than doubled its team, bringing over a number of the region’s top-tier brokers across a number of specialties. One La Jolla Center is about 65% occupied. NGKF senior managing director Steve Wolf repped his firm.

“It’s an exciting move for our San Diego team. This highly efficient, quality environment is the perfect base for us to create a new workspace that reflects our coastal location and encourages our teams to excel,” NGKF regional managing director Greg May said.

“The new space and surrounding amenities provide another reason for brokers to consider NGKF as we’re looking to grow even more in 2017,” NGKF executive managing director Pete Bethea said.

Designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the building offers nearly 10 feet of floor-to-ceiling glass for maximum daylight. Along the I-805 at the La Jolla Village Drive exit, the 306k SF One LaJolla Center is near the Westfield UTC regional mall, the Costa Verde shopping center, and several nearby hotels and restaurants, including the soon-to-open Red O.

On-site amenities include upscale fast-casual restaurant Bistro 24, which offers barista coffee service, catering, and a diverse menu of healthy, gourmet foods. The workplace community also shares state-of-the-art fitness and conference centers; a WiFi-enabled outdoor “living room” that can accommodate 100 employees for collaborating or relaxing; covered bicycle storage; EV charging stations; and private showers, lockers and wet-suit drying racks.
