Orange County is getting its first year-round homeless shelter, Bridges at Kraemer Place.

The first residents began moving into the converted warehouse at 1000 North Kraemer Place in Anaheim over the last few days.

About 20 residents will be part of the first phase to move into the 200-bed space opened by the county and operated by Mercy House Living Centers, the OC Register reports.

About 100 people are scheduled to make up the second phase with the average stay expected to be 90 days.

The goal is for the residents to be able to reconnect with family or find permanent housing with support services.

A dedication ceremony was held last Thursday.
