Dirt Turned on Army Reserve Center

Placeholder

Work is underway on a new Tustin Army Reserve Center on 15 acres on the northwest corner of Red Hill and Warner avenues in Tustin.

The new facility will open in 2017, taking the place of a 1960s-era center near The District shopping center on Barranca Parkway. The City of Tustin and the US Army Corps of Engineers have been mulling the relocation since the mid-1990s, as the plans for developing the Tustin Legacy began in earnest, according to the Orange County Register.

The new facility will accommodate more than 600 soldiers from seven units, with a larger assembly area, more space for physical fitness, a weapons simulator and other learning facilities. [OCR]
