Why Heathcare is Crucial for Village at Tustin Legacy

Healthcare space is becoming an essential part of master planned communities, as neighborhoods seek to integrate the service with other amenities. Among the top projects in OC is The Village at Tustin Legacy, and Bisnow caught up with Hoag Memorial CEO Robert Braithwaite to chat about its plans for a new 60k SF MOB at the mixed-use development.

Robert tells us the center will be an important amenity not only for the new residents of the Tustin Legacy project, but the entire City of Tustin, especially considering the quickly growing demand for healthcare services in Tustin and OC. Hoag Health Center Tustin will be part of the 22-acre retail center The Village at Tustin Legacy, which is being developed by Regency Centers as part of the 1,600-acre master planned Tustin Legacy.

Robert says the range of services at the new health center is still being determined, but it will be based on specific identified needs of the community—also an emerging trend in healthcare, as service providers adapt to local needs. The property is Hoag's first Tustin-based health center. Other Hoag community-based health centers include ones in Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Aliso Viejo, Newport Beach and Irvine, with a third Irvine location slated to open in spring 2016.

Hoag offers a blend of healthcare services that includes cancer, heart and vascular; neurosciences; women’s health; and orthopedics through its affiliate, Hoag Orthopedic Institute. Besides the newly announced healthcare component, plans for the 248k SF Village at Tustin Legacy off Edinger Avenue and Tustin Ranch Road include a grocery store, a pharmacy and a daycare center.
