Alexandria Landlord Ending Topgolf’s Lease

The nation’s first-ever Topgolf location in Kingstowne could be on the verge of closing.

Topgolf has been on a 17-acre property at 6625 South Van Dorn St since 2005. The property’s owners have decided to end its lease with the company, the Washington Business Journal reports. Fairfax County Supervisor Jeff McKay noted the success of the Topgolf location on Tuesday, but also said that the site has been the subject of numerous complaints due to noise, parking and other issues. It’s unclear exactly when Topgolf will close, but the company has been rumored to be looking for a replacement site.

Future plans for the property are also unclear but it could be replanned for uses more compatible with the Kingstowne area. The Halle Cos has recently proposed an addition to the nearby Kingstowne Towne Center, which would include four new residential buildings and additional retail. [WBJ]
