The Downtown Bethesda Site Where Washington Property Co. Is Planning A Residential High-Rise

The site of a french café in Downtown Bethesda could soon become a 225-foot multifamily high-rise.

Washington Property Co. is under contract to acquire the site of La Madeleine at 7607 Old Georgetown Road and plans to build a 200-unit multifamily project, Bethesda Magazine reports.

The developer held a community meeting about the project this week and is presenting plans March 21 to the Downtown Bethesda Advisory Panel. It hopes to gain approval and break ground in June 2019.

The zoning for the 14,700 SF site on the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Commerce Lane would allow a building up to 225 feet tall. It is surrounded by other high-rise buildings, sitting roughly two blocks from the Bethesda Metro station.
