The Alexandria City Council has unanimously approved a multimillion-dollar development at the north end of the Old Town waterfront by City Interests and Rooney Properties.
Plans call for the construction of two structures on the site of warehouses known as Robinson Terminal North. The project, from developers City Interests and Rooney Properties, will include 25k SF of commercial space, a 132-room hotel and 66 multifamily units and could include as many as four restaurants, the Washington Post reports. The developers will rebuild the existing pier, add a floating dock and create a public walkway along the river.
The project is one of several planned or under construction as part of the city’s waterfront plan, which seeks to remake the city’s Potomac River shore. Construction began this summer on a residential and retail project on the site of the Robinson Terminal South warehouse. [WaPo]
