Capital One has received the green light to build a Wegmans and a performing arts center at its new McLean campus.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved the company's request to add 243K SF to its HQ development, bringing the total density to 5.2M SF, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Wegmans signed on in 2015 to lease 80K SF at the site and plans to open the grocery store in late 2018. The popular grocer in May signed its first deal to open in the District, agreeing to anchor Roadside's redevelopment of Fannie Mae's Upper Northwest headquarters.

The newly approved Capital One HQ plan also includes a 125K SF performing arts center. The $120M facility will include a 1,500-seat auditorium for corporate and public events and a 125-seat black box theater.

The full 24.5-acre development is also approved for 1,230 residential units and Capital One's 930K SF HQ. The 470-foot tower, currently under construction, will be the D.C. area's tallest building when it opens, although a proposal farther west in Tysons could top it.
