Those Marriott folks know quality control: Here’s CFO Carl Berquist choosing the Marriott Suites in Bethesda for lunch yesterday, presumably so he could check out the goods (as well as eat them). But although Carl’s a hotel guy now, he well remembers his real estate roots: Before joining Marriott in 2002, he’d been Arthur Andersen’s global head of real estate. And he still feels at home in the space—not just because of his firm’s 4000 properties in 80 countries (growing so rapidly the number has probably changed as this is being written), but because his daughter’s at Savills Studley.
