Walker & Dunlop's Expansion Plans for Engler

Walker & Dunlop has big plans to turn real estate firm Engler Financial Group into its own Apartment Realty Advisors of sorts. It all began when competitor Newmark Grubb Knight Frank acquired Apartment Realty Advisers, an investment sales business that had a relationship with Walker & Dunlop. They were left with the question of whether to build their own investment sales branch, or buy, Willie Walker (pictured) told the Wall Street Journal. They decided to do both, buying the Alpharetta, GA-based Engler Financial Group, which specializes in the Southeast, and making plans to expand it into a national platform. The Engler business will be renamed Walker & Dunlop Investment Sales, and provide sales brokerage services in many of Walker & Dunlop's 22 offices nationwide. [WSJ]
