The museum is hoping the third time is a charm after its big dreams of a snazzy Cesar Pelli-designed building at JBG’s renewed L’Enfant Plaza (above) fell through, and a move to National Harbor proved unsuccessful when the economy collapsed, reports the Washington Post. Now the self-proclaimed “Museum on a Move” is heading back, as the Spy Museum eyes L’Enfant Plaza. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Its wish list for 2016 is a building close to transportation with 40k to 60k SF, and a two-story interior space. In the meantime it will participate in community events and send some exhibits to branches of the D.C Public Library. With Greater Greater Washington reporting on the Air and Space Museum’s need for a facelift, we can’t help but wonder how much these institutions are struggling.
