TechShop celebrated its first birthday in Crystal City. (GM Isabella Iglesias-Musachio blew out the candles on behalf of the welders, 3D printers and other machines.) TechShop, which has $1M worth of professional equipment and software, celebrated by letting the public come in and play with the machines. TechShop describes itself as part fabrication and prototyping studio, part hacker space and part learning center.
