But it will be challenging to expand and improve a streetcar line that has been struggling for a long time. There are monetary and logistical issues, the Washington Post reports. Council member Yvette Alexander believes an extension along Benning Road and the Anacostia River will carry significant economic benefits. Meanwhile, council member Jack Evans is waiting to see the numbers before he passes judgment, saying the city has so many long-term projects it has to choose wisely.
