A world-famous architect, Bing Thom, was best-known in DC for designing the $210M renovation to Arena Stage that delivered in 2010.
On Tuesday, he died from a brain aneurysm in Hong Kong, the Washington Business Journal reports. He was 75.
“Bing believed architecture transcends the building, to shine its light on to its whole surroundings," Bonnie Thom said in a statement. "He was so happy his architects also pursue this adventure of ‘building beyond buildings.’”
More recently, the Vancouver-based Bing Thom Architects designed the redevelopment of The Blairs in Silver Spring, which added 1,400 new residential units. He also designed the DC Public Library's new Woodridge branch. [WBJ]
