DC’s “front yard” is slowly becoming a reality, but it may be years before we get to enjoy the new $120M design, reports The Washington Post. The plan is to focus on infrastructure first, starting with a solution for flood-prone streets near the Potomac. Meanwhile, private waterfront developers are working on permits, like the Old Dominion Boat Club (Michael Winstanley rendering above), which will move to the site of the vacant Beachcombers building, and become a 12k SF club with a roof deck and boat launch. The old clubhouse will become part of Fitzgerald Square. Other projects include City Interests’ mixed-use development at the site of the old Robinson Terminal North, Carr Hospitality’s planned boutique hotel at 220 S Union St, EYA’s old Robinson Terminal South warehouse, and the 450-seat Blackwall Hitch Restaurant next to the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
