Billion-Dollar Expansion of Hemlock Resort Gets Approval

The province has approved expansion plans for Hemlock Resort, an extensive five-phase, 60-year project that will see the Fraser Valley ski hill’s recreation area expanded to over 6,000 hectares from its current 350 hectares in a bid to make it an all-season destination. A partnership between Langley-based Berezan Group (which bought Hemlock in 2006 and has invested $10M in upgrading existing infrastructure for 217 private homeowners) and the local Sts’ailes Band, the development will entail the addition of 20,000 bed units (up from 1,076) and 23 new lifts (currently there are four), a total capital investment of $1B
