Some people go to America to buy the good Pop Tart flavours. Others buy hotels. Vancouver-based American Hotel Income Properties REIT has completed its acquisition of a 133-room rail crew hotel in Lincoln, NE, for US$3.9M, including US$1.2M in planned capital expenditures to convert the property to an Oak Tree Inn rail crew hotel (like one in Montana seen above). AHIP's portfolio now includes 80 hotels (7,048 guest rooms) with 45 rail crew hotels and 35 branded hotels. The Lincoln property will be managed by TR Lodging Enterprises, a wholly owned subsidiary of O'Neill Hotels & Resorts Ltd.
