One of the larger remediation projects in the region remains the old Norampac paper mill in Burnaby (8255 Wiggins St) that Oxford Properties bought. We asked Sperling Hansen prez Tony Sperling, who's quarterbacking the clean-up, for an update. "We've hauled out 300k cubic metres of waste," Tony tells us. That includes plastic packing tape, shrink wrap, packing labels, aluminum foil, as well as small chips of cardboard and other paper. (Everything we need to mail this year's Christmas presents. Hey, Tony, don't get rid of it all yet!). It's been a three-year process, and will wrap up soon, Tony says. Oxford plans to redevelop the 65-acre site, starting next spring.
