It can scale tall buildings at 800 feet per minute. And last week saw the North American debut of KONE JumpLift, a self-climbing construction elevator that promises to speed up the development of mighty One Bloor, the 75-storey tower from Great Gulf—with 100k SF of retail—at Yonge and Bloor. KONE Americas CEO Larry Wash was snapped at the launch event with Great Gulf development VP Geoffrey Mathews and Tucker HiRise EVP Chris Mallinos.
Used throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia, the JumpLift has a mobile machine room that moves upward as construction progresses on One Bloor (snapped this morning). The lift operates within the building’s permanent internal elevator hoist way, enabling completed floors to be put into action while construction continues above. And did we mention it can travel up to 800 feet per minute? A mere mortal construction elevator does 200 feet per minute, tops. No word on whether KONE’s superhero elevator comes with seat belts, or sick bags.
