Update on Yonge and Eglinton Site

We thought wed grab an update from Build Toronto on the SW corner of Yonge and Eglinton (photo)--one of the more "happening" areas of the city right now. Construction has started on the office and retail area across the street on the northwest side, and plans are under way for a new condo development on the northeast side. A portion of the land, where the old bus barns are located, was declared surplus for transfer to Build Toronto. For the next few years the land will be used as a staging area for tunnel machines for the Eglinton Avenue LRT as well as a construction area for the Yonge and Eglinton station for the LRT. Build Torontos Don Logie says they're working with Metrolinx and the TTC to integrate their needs into future development. The LRT is scheduled for a '20 open.

(Leafs in the playoffs, starting tomorrow in Boston. Cue the car flags.) mark.keast@bisnow.com
