There isno better placeto get business donethan the fairway of agolf course(unless you breaking your six iron over your knee would somehow harm the deal). For41 years, SIOR has proved the theory, bringing together key CRE folks yesterday atRattlesnake Point Golf Club in Milton. The annual event, which raised money for the Peel Chapter of St. John Ambulance, hosted over 260 golfers, including over 90 members of SIOR. Golfers defied the chilly temperatures (see: shorts) and teed it up, then headed over to the clubhouse for a cocktail reception, oyster bar, and dinner.SIOR prez Rob Renaud says the event is always sold out anda hub for contractors, developers, landlords, and property managers to network.

Rob says events--like the golf tournament and a skiing event for members held in January in Collingwood--are ways to attract younger professionals to SIOR and build the organization. (Setting up a paintball event couldn't hurt.) Thats the push for the organization now, and atleast half of the players in yesterdays event were under 45, he adds. In this age of social media, theres still a big need in the industry for social contact to connect with the right people, know who's in the community, and develop careers.
