ULI Toronto's new leader Richard Joy wants the institute to become the GTA's go-to real estate organization for “universally respected land-use perspectives.” In a blog post a month after taking the helm, Richard vows ULI will work to garner the trust of land-use professionals, governments, the public, and media by providing ideas and solutions that demonstrate how aligning market and public interests can lead to better neighbourhoods. Richard also points out that the Toronto election this fall is the last until 2018, providing an opportunity to “dial down politics and dial up inspired thought leadership.” (Though it's bad news for people who like checking little boxes.)
