REPORT: Google Quadruples Miami Office After Founders' Mansion Buys

Not long after billionaires Sergey Brin and Larry Page dropped a combined hundreds of millions of dollars on Miami real estate, the company they founded is growing its Magic City office presence.

Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, expanded its 10K SF office lease at 1450 Brickell Ave. to 45K SF, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources.

Google and Blanca Commercial Real Estate, which handles leasing for the building, declined to comment.

The move comes after Page spent more than $170M in January to buy a home in the wealthy enclave of Coconut Grove. Brin purchased a mansion on Miami Beach's Allison Island in February for $50M.

The pair stepped down from their roles as executives in 2019 but still serve on the company's board and hold majority voting control.

Page and Brin, the world's second- and third-wealthiest people, are among a handful of wealthy individuals planting flags in South Florida amid a proposed wealth tax in California and an annual fee on second homes valued above $5M in New York.

Google is now the latest example of an out-of-state company expanding its Miami office after its CEO or company leaders move to South Florida. That includes Palantir, which moved its headquarters from Colorado to Miami after its founder, Peter Thiel, and CEO, Alex Karp, bought homes in the area.

Google established its presence at 1450 Brickell Ave., owned by Amkin Management, roughly a decade ago. The 35-story, 586K SF skyscraper also has 10K SF of retail on the ground floor, according to a brochure from Blanca CRE.

Other tenants include JLL's Miami office and JPMorgan Chase, which doubled its presence at the building in 2024.
