A Little Love Helps Launch 770-Acre Industrial Project

A master planned industrial park in central South Florida is getting a start with the help of a little Love.

Love's Travel Stops & country Stores

Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is underway with an $11M, 10k SF 24-hour truck stop that will include private showers, massive truck parking, a convenience store and an Arby's restaurant.

It's part of a 40-store US expansion by the Oklahoma fuel station operator, and it's the launch project of a planned 770-acre industrial campus in former sugar cane fields at the corner of US Highway 27 and State Road 78 in Moore Haven that's being spearheaded by A. Duda & Sons.

In an agreement with Glades County, Duda has donated 15 acres for easement and the installation of infrastructure that will open the land to some 1.5M SF of development.

“The closer we get to being shovel-ready, the more deal flow we’re beginning to see,” says Glades County Economic Development Council executive director Tracy Whirls (center at a recent groundbreaking).

She says the group is actively pursuing four projects representing $141M in capital investment and 245 jobs with an average annual wage of $40k to $70k/year. The Love's store gives the county a head start with 40 jobs once it opens in early 2017. Cushman & Wakefield's Larry Kahn and Christopher Thomson have been tapped to market the project.
