A good departure point offers the best combination of inexpensive flights and short travel times to the most popular destinations, and only Chicago, Washington, DC, New York, and Charlotte top Miami in that regard. As a destination, Miami didn’t make the Top 5 (maybe because its summer; in winter, we think they’d be no contest).
