Earning LEED Platinum takes time and money, especially for large buildings. Foram Group CEO Loretta Cockrum, whose 600 Brickell recently won the designation, says in no uncertain terms that it's worth it. The designation "enables the building to be more competitive today and years into the future," she tells us. Having optimal lighting, air quality, and temperature control, in addition to access to public transportation and a building dedicated neighborhood shuttle, aren't only strategies for environmental sustainability, but are tangible amenities that improve productivity, Loretta says. (We might add, you get to save the fights of the thermostat for where they belong, at home, resulting in a blistering war of words.)
