Work is underway on the 302-room Residence Inn by Marriott at 924 Howell St, slated for completion in fall '17. Mortenson Construction VP John Nowoj tells us demand is high for rooms in the area, and supply is short. “Anyone who’s tried to book a hotel room in or near Seattle’s CBD on a weekday, or during tourist season, knows that rooms are in short supply.”
Denver-based Stonebridge Cos, the developer, tapped Mortenson to build the property. Located adjacent to the planned Washington State Convention Center expansion, the hotel will include a 7k SF conference center as well as a fitness center and three levels of below-grade parking. Plans also call for a lobby bar. About 1,300 SF of retail space will be on the first level facing Howell Street.
