Even though occupancies and revenue per available room are strong, hotels still need to compete for guests. Seattle hotels have long been pioneers in offering guests more than they might expect, and the trend is still strong. Here are six examples.
Ace Hotel

One of Seattle's first repurposed boutique hotels — it once was a sailors' hotel — the Ace Hotel still sports loft ceilings, hardwood floors and art by the likes KAWS and Shepard Fairey in guest rooms.
Hotel Andra

Want to feel like you're in Scandinavia? The Hotel Andra features Scandinavian decor and artwork from local artists and a spiffy stone fireplace in the lobby.
Hotel Max

Art's the thing at Hotel Max: art and music, that is. The property has an art collection in the lobby and the work of local photographers on each floor. The hotel also features an entire floor of guestrooms with turntables and label-curated vinyl from Sub Pop Records.
Hotel 1000

Hotel 1000 might be the most high-tech hotel in town. Among other features, hotel staff can determine whether a room is occupied with infrared scanners, to avoid disturbing guests; a de-aerated water filter in the bath tub provides a steady stream of water to eliminate splashing; and the property has a virtual golf room.
The Palladian Hotel

The Palladian Hotel has an amenity that we've never heard of: upon request, guests can ask for throw pillows with portraits of modern celebrities in 19th-century military garb.
Hotel Sorrento

Hotel Sorrento has many standard amenities, but it also provides experiential ones: its Fireside Room and Top of the Town offer regularly scheduled lectures, readings, musical performances and other, more eclectic events that defy easy characterization.
