Intracorp is set to begin construction on a 321-unit apartment building in the Little Saigon neighborhood at South Jackson Street and 12th Avenue. Demolition of the existing building is complete and construction on the new seven-story building will begin in May.

During the planning phase, Intracorp sought input from Friends of Little Saigon and the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority community groups. The units will be a mix of market-rate and affordable housing. A pedestrian market retail passage connecting Jackson and King streets will feature 10K SF retail spaces that are expected to attract Asian-inspired vendors and shops.

“Intracorp would like to thank the community for all of the input and guidance that has been given us to make this project a perfect fit for the neighborhood,” Intracorp Vice President of Development Lis Soldano said in a statement. “We are excited to give hundreds of future residents the opportunity to make their home in Little Saigon and be a part of this lively community.”

The building was designed by Tiscareno Associates, Nakano Associates and Object & Space. It will have a modern look and feel while preserving the neighborhood’s Vietnamese culture. The structure will feature a wood, weave and greenery aesthetic with bamboo, woven textures and artist-inspired elements. It will be constructed to meet LEED Gold standards.

The yet-unnamed building will have a two-story lobby, a game room, a fitness center and bike storage, as well as a sky lounge with indoor and outdoor spaces. It is on the Seattle Streetcar Line. Leasing will launch in early 2021, but an interest list is currently being compiled.
