The Village at Westgate, a four-story apartment community, recently opened in Edmonds as part of the Westgate upzone. These will be the first apartments in Edmonds to include the Multifamily Tax Credit Program. The program reserves 20% of the units for families that earn 80% to 115% of the area median income.

“We were pleased to work with the City of Edmonds to adopt the MFTE program,” Henbart LLC President Mark Craig said in a statement. “As new rental housing is developed, it’s important that we provide affordable options for those who make our cities thrive. We sought to deliver a highly amenitized, urban mixed-use project that is quintessentially Edmonds.”

Henbart is the developer of the project. Northwest Apartments manages the property.

The building includes 91 apartment units, 3,100 SF of retail space, public and private outdoor amenities and one level of underground parking. There is also surface parking available to tenants.

The development includes the public art piece Elementum I, which was designed by Western Neon. The art is an attempt to connect the building to Edmond’s Northwest vibe.

“Edmonds is a waterfront community, so we envisioned this concept almost as a deconstructed bonfire, something associated with the beaches in the area,” Western Neon Creative Director Dylan Neuwirth said in a statement. “The sculpture is made of reclaimed cedar from Vashon Island and local stone.”
