Developers are scrambling to contain the fallout from the Millennium Tower’s unexpected sinking. Jay Paul Co, the developer behind 181 Fremont, issued a statement saying the building’s Arup-engineered foundation was far more stable since it drilled into bedrock. Jay Paul also stressed the building’s resiliency features that allow it to survive an earthquake, reports Curbed.

The Millennium Tower is sinking and tilting far more than forecast. The unexpected news has led to much finger pointing. Millennium reportedly did not drill into bedrock to cut costs and built over landfill. [Curbed]
