San Leandro Gears Up For Industrial Redevelopment Project

2000 Marina Blvd. In San Leandro

A large two-story warehouse is on its way to San Leandro. The proposed redevelopment of a former paper mill at 2000 Marina Blvd. was unanimously approved by the San Leandro Board of Zoning Adjustments in early April, the East Bay Times reports. Unless the city council appeals the decision by April 21, the decision is final.

Overton Moore Properties, which bought the site in 2016 soon after the 13-acre mill closed, plans to demolish a former Georgia-Pacific Gypsum drywall and paperboard mill. A two-story, 293K SF warehouse will be built in its place.

A total of four buildings will be demolished, leftover gypsum drywall paper supplies will be removed and an industrial warehouse for a variety of uses, including food manufacturing, clean technology assembly and wholesale trade distribution, will be built.

The warehouse also will have an additional 4K SF mezzanine, 15K SF of office space, 138 parking spots, a parking area for truck trailers and a patio with rollup doors.

Demolition will begin in June and be completed by May 2018. The $45M project is expected to be built within 11 months. No tenant has pre-leased the space, but the developer expects the warehouse to be fully leased due to strong demand for warehouse space in the East Bay.
