We should probably thank all those Thors, Spider-Men, Supermen and Wolverines out there for this. The San Diego Convention Center is projecting that its slate of hosted events—led by San Diego Comic-Con International—will have more than $1B of regional impact on the economy, including $600M in direct attendee spending and $21M in tax revenues, according to a report by the convention center authority. Comic-Con alone, with its 130,000 projected attendees, will have a nearly $136M regional impact, with $80M in direct spending—mainly on costumes.
