| This morning we chatted with Jamestown managing directorMichael Phillips, who tells us Friday sales at Alameda South Shore Center were up 11% over last year; Sunday’s were up 12%. (And don't forget Cyber Monday: up 6%.) Among the most popular categories: sporting goods and kids’ apparel. He’s cautiouslyoptimistic. “We think there’s been significant pent-up demand in the consumer sector, and people are coming out to shop.” |
| It’s no wonder the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price index found that San Francisco-area home prices dropped nearly 6% in Q3—some of the dwellings use confectionary building materials. Alameda South Shore Center kicked off the holidays with the opening of its Santa House, including a student-staffed gift wrapping station benefitting local charities. The Black Friday events featured Santa’s procession to his new digs (let’s hope the jolly old guy didn’t have an overpriced subprime mortgage), carolers, and a preview of the Alameda Civic Ballet's The Nutcracker. Jamestown acquired and re-branded the 594k SF center earlier this year. |
