Opus Interactive has completed a 90 kilowatt expansion at Infomart Data Centers' Portland-area facility. The expansion was necessary to meet demand for distributed data processing, retail co-location and cloud services in the region, according to Opus.

"The expansion enables us to continue the 25% year-over-year growth trajectory we’re on," Opus Interactive CEO Shannon Hulbert said. The company has been been the retail provider at Infomart’s Hillsboro facility for five years.

“Also, as demand for global connectivity continues to increase among our customers, being in a facility with access to Asia-Pacific submarine cables is key,” Hulbert said.

Cables connect the Portland market to Japan, China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, the Hawaii Submarine Cable became operational, offering a fiber optic cable system that bypasses earthquake-prone regions to link parts of Asia, Hawaii and the West Coast, according to DataCenterHawk.

Infomart Portland is a highly efficient facility, according to Infomart. It has a 99% efficient Uninterrupted Power Supply, a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.16 in full economization mode, 100% aisle containment and natural cooling methods to run at least 70% of the facility.

The facility is also the first data center in Oregon and among only a few in the nation to be LEED Platinum certified, and holds Uptime Institute’s Efficient IT Certification and Management & Operations Stamp of Approval.

“Opus Interactive’s latest expansion within Infomart Portland is a testament to the region’s continued growth, largely thanks to its renewable and cost-effective power access, tax incentives, technical workforce and ascending position as the new digital gateway to Asia Pacific,” Infomart Data Centers President John Sheputis said.
