Former San Francisco CIO Chris Vein was named the new federal deputy CTO. Notice a trend? Chris is the latest in a line of state and local technology executives to be get big positions within the federal government joining Vivek Kundra (DC CIO), Aneesh Chopra(Virginia Tech Sec) and Teri Takai (California CIO). Are the feds trying to bring in some new blood instead of promoting from within? Or maybe they want people with experience running on tight localbudgets?
