Johnson & Johnson and the New York Genome Center have announced a joint effort to open a 30k SF innovation lab in Soho called JLABS @ NYC.
The facility will include space for companies working to prevent and cure diseases at the NYGC's building at 101 6th Ave. The space will provide growing companies with modular lab units, office space and shared lab equipment, and help connect them to opportunities for funding, services, educational events and networking with industry leaders.
Similar facilities are already in operation in seven other cities in the U.S. and Canada. The NYC incarnation of the project will get $17M in funding from New York State. It’s scheduled to open in 2018.
